Please Join In Our Efforts to Refurbish Our Station #9

We all know where we were when our country came under attack on September 11, 2001.  We recall watching in disbelief as people ran for their lives, our firefighters better known as FIRST RESPONDERS, were running in!

With little thought for their own well being, these brave men and women put their lives on the line each and every day on behalf of our community and the chance to save lives.

Station #9, located at the corner of Torrey Pines and La Jolla Parkway is the busiest station in the community.  Their location sits at our most congested intersection and is closest to our crowded beaches and the entryway to the village of La Jolla.

After the Witch Creek Fire in 2007, our children brought their signs and hand drawn pictures to Station #9 in attempts to show our true gratitude and appreciation for their efforts.  It was then Captain Kevin McWalters let me tour the facility, I was shocked at the conditions.  I asked myself how these dedicated first responders were expected to rest and recuperate from two straight weeks on the front line.  I knew something had to be done; someone needed to step up and spearhead this desperately needed renovation.

Due to a personal accident I was on a full-time walker and had to put this project on hold for almost 3 full years until now!  Now is the time for our community to show our appreciation, to return the favor to our local first responding men and women.  The station needs a complete interior overhaul and new roof.  The city does not have funds to refurbish the existing fire station.

It is time for the community to come to rescue of those who protect us and provide them with the station we need and they deserve.
